December 4th, Thursday - Arrivals and Condesa

Welcome to Mexico City!! Everyone is arriving at different times, and we will be welcoming everyone at the house. Please see below:

Terminal 2. Head to Arrival Hall. Look for driver holding a sign.

Terminal 1. Head to Exit Gate/Door 8, in front of KFC. Look for greeter/driver.

Transportation:
-
Ubers are easy to catch from the airport (MEX) They pick up passengers right on the curb. You just need to identify the closest exit door, as the app will give you a couple of door numbers to choose from.

If anyone is arriving to the Felipe Angels Airport (NLU), you will need to catch one of the taxis at the airport. They have their own shuttle services. Let me know if you do, and I will guide you.

I can also arrange private pick up if you prefer. Cost is about $30 USD for up to 3 people.

Accommodation: House in Condesa.

We are staying at Avenida Amatlan 83 (Here)

House is located in beautiful Condesa! One of the trendiest and most beautiful areas of the city. Very walkable and full of parks, restaurants, and cafes.

Note: Make sure to have this address handy when you arrive as they will ask for address where you will be staying.

6:00 PM - Dinner in Condesa.
- Plan is to go to Maizajo for tacos and drinks. This is a popular and informal place just a short walk from our house. You guys will enjoy the vibe.
- We will return to the house after to welcome the next group.
- 9:00 PM - Drinks and Music in Condesa
- I want to take you to one of my favorite spots in Condesa for food cocktails and beats, Hule. Also just a short walk from the place.
- We can play by ear the rest of the night, but we will make sure to be home by the time Shawn, Iain, and Kemper arrive at the house, which should be around 1:00 AM

December 5th, Friday - Old Town, Landmarks, and Drag.

9:30 AM - Breakfast at the house

We are gathering as a group to have a delicious home made breakfast today, and we are in for a treat!! Have you guys heard of Muxes?
-
Muxe refers to a "third gender" in the Zapotec culture of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Mexico (near Oaxaca), comprising individuals assigned male at birth who present with both masculine and feminine characteristics.

We are going to have the privilege to work with one of them, Perla, as our chef for the weekend. She will make breakfast for us three times over the weekend. The food will not only be delicous, but we will also get the chance to learn about this unique and interesting Mexican tradition.

10:30 AM to 1:00 PM Let's Explore Downtown/Old Town
-
We are departing at this time to explore el Centro Historico of Mexico City. An informal walk by some of the main landmarks and buildings of their beautiful old town. El Centro is beautiful, full of grand buildings and history.

1:00 PM to 4:00 PM - City Bike Tour and Food Tasting Experience
-
After walking for a couple of hours, we will be seeing more of the city on bikes. This will be a guided activity, through some of the main landmarks of the city, like the Bellas Artes Palace, Revolution Monument, Angel de Independencia, Chapultepec Park, and more.
-
Along the way, we will be making stops to try local food and drinks. This will be a lot of fun. Activity will end at the house.

Note: The city is flat and distances not too far, so it should be an easy ride. Please let me know if any of you don't feel comfortable on a bike.

4:00 PM to 9:00 PM - Free Time
-
Perfect time to rest, hang out at the house, or explore on your own. I will be more than happy to give recommendations and guidance as needed.
-
Note: We have an optional activity. Botox!! For less than $300 USD per person, we could have a Doctor come over the house to give Botox. If you are interested let me know, and I can coordinate. I have used him before. He is a friend of friends.

8:30 PM to TBD - Drag Show - Drinks and small bites
-
We have a reservation to see one of the most popular drag shows in Mexico City, Sirenito. It is campy, fun, ridiculous, and always a good time. We will be able to order drink and small bites.

We can play the rest of the night by ear depending on how is everyone feeling afterwards.

December 6th, Saturday - Local Art and Historic Canals
-
10:30 AM - Breakfast at the house
-
Later breakfast so we can sleep in a bit more. Make sure to be on time.

11:30 AM to 1:30 PM - San Angel Art Fair
-
We are going to the famous weekly art bazar of Mexico City in San Angel. A beautiful town within the city, that hosts hundreds or artist every Saturday to showcase and sell their art. This will be the best opportunity to fulfill your art and souvenirs desires. Note: Bring cash as many of them won't accept credit cards (Some will)

1:30 PM to 6:30 PM - Xochimilco Boat Party
-
We will depart at 1:30 towards Xochimilco. Ancient canals we will be cruising onboard the famous trajineras. We will have drinks, food, music, and more. It will be a party!

We will be cruising for two hours, and will be dropped off at home afterwards.

Free Evening.

It will have been a long day and some of you might want to rest, others relax at the house, and some will want to keep going. Let's see what the night will bring us :)

December 7th, Sunday - Food, Drinks, Food.

Let's enjoy a lazy morning, or take advantage of this time to explore more of the city on your own. I will be happy to give recommendations.

There are many options around the house for coffee and breakfast, but keep it light!

1:00 PM to TBD - Birthday Brunch
-
We have a 1PM reservation at Entremar. This is a popular Mexican seafood restaurant in the city located in Polanco (here).
-
We will depart the house at 12:30 PM to head to the restaurant.
-
Note: Polanco is one of the most modern and beautiful parts of the city. It would be a good option for those who want to explore on their own before brunch. You could easily meet the rest of the group at 1pm at the restaurant.

3:30 PM to 5:30 PM - Drinks in Roma Norte
-
I would like us to go to Revuelta! This is a trendy spot in Roma Norte. A queer place with good music and interesting crowd. We can be here for a couple of hours.

Note: Roma Norte is another trendy area in the city. Very Popular for its stores and beautiful streets. We could walk around the area before drinks.

8:00 PM - Last Supper

Location is still TBD. This will be our last dinner together. It will be cute, and fun.

It looks like we will have lovely weather next weekend. 70's and sunny during the day, and in the 50's at night.

It is recommended to have a light jacket for night time, and layers are always good during the day. It can go from hot to cool at any moment.

Money

Most places will accept credit cards, but it is recommended to have cash as well since there are many vendors, specially street vendors, who will not accept credit card payments.

ATMs are the best way to get cash.

Safety

Mexico City is relatively safe, specially for tourists.
-
We will be in safe areas, but it is good to have in mind that things could happen, specially late at night. Let's make sure we take care of each other, and not get too drunk in public spaces ;)
