Accommodations

Hotel A - Option One - Boutique Hotel in Antigua Guatemala

  • Small boutique hotel (5 rooms)

  • Elegant, beautiful, and full of history. One of the best hotels in hotels in the city. Located in the colonial area.

  • Breakfast is served at your convenience in their beautiful terrace from where you can see the volcanos around the city. The perfect view to start your day with.  Gorgeous little courtyard.

  • We are recommending the room with two queen beds for you.  It is spacious, comfortable, and simply beautiful with an Antigua vibe.

  • Unfortunately only one room can be offered for the entire weekend at this moment. Others were booked recently.  I have two other options where we can do more combinations.

Hotel B - Option One/Two/Three - Second Boutique Hotel in Antigua Guatemala

  • Medium Size luxurious boutique hotel (26 Rooms)

  • Elegant, beautiful, and full of history. One of the best hotels in hotels in the city. Located in the colonial area of the city.

  • Breakfast is served at your convenience. Hotels has gardens, patios, and a beautiful terrace from where you can see the volcanos around the city. The perfect view to start your day with.

  • In this hotel we can offer for options for rooms combinations, but not many are left.

  • All rooms would have an internal patio, and elegant bathrooms.  Recommendations are all junior suites.

Hotel C - Option One/Two/Three - Second Boutique Hotel in Antigua Guatemala

  • Small boutique hotel (9 Rooms). Not as exclusive and recommended as the previous ones, but still a good hotel with good reviews.

  • Beautiful, and very comfortable. Great location and service. Located just a block from main plaza. Can be a little noisy at night if you are a light sleeper.

  • Breakfast is served at your convenience. Hotels has gardens, patios, and a beautiful terrace from where you can see the volcanos around the city. The perfect view to start your day with.

  • In this hotel we can offer for options for rooms combinations, but not many are left.

  • Note: some guests don't like the lack of windows in some of the rooms, others think it is perfect to sleep. Rooms usually get natural sun light through the door.

Proposed Itinerary

I am proposing a weekend full of outdoor activities with enough time to relax and enjoy the physical beauty and culture of the region.  Please take a look and let me know if you like the plan or would like to add/remove anything.

Day One - Friday - May 24th

  • 11:30 AM - Arrival - Our driver will be waiting for you at the airport to drive you to Antigua Guatemala.  This ride lasts about an hour.  The estimated time of arrival at the apartment would be 01:00 to 01:30 PM

  • 1:30 to 03:00 PM - Perfect time to explore the city.  We can make a reservation for you at one of our favorite restaurants for lunch or feel free to explore on your own and grab a quick bite before the afternoon tour.

  • 03:00 PM - Sunset ATV Tour - This is the best way to take in the beauty surrounding the city.  You will visit some of the best view points located in the mountains around the city.  They are restaurants and eco-lodges with gardens, bars and cafes you can enjoy while taking in the best views of the city.

    • I am thinking private, but we can also requested to join a group trip.

    • There is also a version of this tour during the morning.  You would get to see more of the mountains and reach further stops, but given the time you would not be able to do one of the next suggested activities if you prefer to do the morning one, .

    • We could also do something more local, like a bike tour or walking tour. Or no tour this afternoon, so you can relax and explore the city on your own. I would be happy to give some recommendations.

Day Two - Saturday - May 25th

  • 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM - Day at Lake Atitlan (Total trip would be around 10-12 hours) - Prepare to see one of the most beautiful landscapes in Guatemala.  This lake is surrounded by volcanos, and small villages founded by Mayan descents, and colorful landscapes.  Our day starts with a 3 hour ride to the lake (perfect to recover sleep) Once there we have different options for you based on how you would like to spend the day:

    • We could give you a guided tour on a boat of the lake and some of the villages around it.  This would be a chilled way to sail through the lake and visit 3 villages, and overall enjoy the beauty of the area.

    • Another option is to spend the day horseback riding. Visit plantations, and ride on trails that will allow you to see the beauty of the lake from above.

    • You could also have a more physically active trip.  We can have you visit some of the villages (your choice. We would give you a list) and also choose to do some of these activities: kayaking, hiking, cliff jumping or rock climbing.

    • Some of these can be in group if you prefer.

Day Three - Sunday - May 26th

  • Morning - Volcano Hike (6 hours) -  Time to visit the Pacaya Volcano. This is one of the most beautiful and dangerous attractions near antigua.  This active volcano is surrounded by a lot of beauty and also results from recent eruptions.  A unique and impactful trip.  Private transportation and guide.

    • Hike is about 1 1/2 hours.  Not the easiest hike but for definitely a rewarding one. The vies from the top are incredible, and you can see lava and steam depending on how active the volcano is.

    • You can choose the departure time.  The latest to leave would be 1PM.

  • The earlier you return, the more time you will have to explore more of the colonial Antigua. The streets and the colonial architecture are beautiful, but also are the ruins of many monasteries, convents, and churches that were destroyed and/or abandoned after the multiple earthquakes that hit the city last century.  I recommend walking to at least one of them (e.g. Capuchinas, Santo Domingo)

Day Four - Monday - May 27th

  • 09:00 AM - Departure - Our driver will be ready to pick you at this time. You should arrive at the airport around 10:00 PM for your flight at 12:35 PM.  Let me know if you would like to leave earlier.

Please Note:

  • Nights out - Night life in Antigua is rather calm.  There is a number of interesting bars and places to grab good cocktails, but not many dance clubs.  There are one or two dance clubs (gay friendly), and a monthly gay party.   I will confirm options for this weekend closer to the travel dates.

  • Lunch/Dinners -  I can provide recommendations and make reservations for dinner.  Let me know if you would like me to do this or you prefer to explore on your own.

  • Transportation - No need to reserve additional transportation within Antigua.  The colonial area is very walkable.

Other Options for Activities

  • Bike tour in Antigua

  • Day Time ATV tour (Would impact one of the other two recommended activities)

  • Coffee Plantation tour

  • Walking tour of the city

Estimated Cost

With the itinerary as laid out on this proposal, the estimated cost is the following as determined by accommodation type of the new :

  • Hotel A

    • Option One -  $1519 (Already estimated for Kentay+1 - Hotel and activities)

  • Hotel B (Additional estimate for 4 additional guests)

    • Option One - $3279

    • Option Two - $3359

    • Option Three - $3979

  • Hotel C (Additional estimate for 4 additional guests)

    • Option One - $2899

    • Option Two - $2899

    • Option Three - $3249

I say estimate because the final cost would is determined by the activities and accommodation.  If you would like to remove or change activities price would be adjusted accordingly.   Changing transportation from private to shared (when possible) would also modify the final price, etc.

Let me know if there are any questions, special requests, or changes.  We can continue to tailor this plan until you are completely satisfied.

THANK YOU
