NOISE ALERT - RECOMMENDATIONS
-
This is a busy season in Cartagena, a lot of celebrations and parties around the house (In addition to our own), so please come prepared if you are a light sleeper. Bring ear plugs, sleeping aids, etc. Whatever you use or need. Just in case.
-
House one - We are literally steps from a big club, and one of the busiest plazas in the area. A lot of walking people around too.
-
House Two - You are on a busy street as well. It is on the edge of the neighborhood, so many cars take that street to avoid pedestrians.
-
We all will be spending time around the pool throughout the day, and parts of the night, but we need to remember all rooms are around the pool, so we will have "quiet hours" 11 PM to 8 AM. We can hang out (Preferably in the terrace), but no music during this time, and let's be considered, as some might be resting.
Plan
December 27 - Arrivals
-
Please send flight information.
-
I recommend everyone brings a bottle of their favorite alcohol, or get one in duty free before picking up luggage in Cartagena.
-
We can't check in before 3PM, but we can leave our bags if necessary.
-
I can reserve airport transportation for you. $20 one way, $40 round trip (Up to 4 people). Taxis are relatively easy to take at the airport, just make sure to have address and directions ready for the driver.
-
Cash - You can use ATMs there to withdraw money, or bring cash to exchange. If you do want to exchange, do at least some at the airport so you have cash available. Most restaurants accept Credit Cards.
-
Tapas and drinks near the house as a group!
-
10:00 PM Salsa dancing!! I have made us a reservation at one of the hottest clubs in town, Havana. Get your dancing shoes on. The club is literally steps from the house.
December 28
-
Morning - Breakfast / pool time.
-
Around Noon - I would like to take everyone on a walk across town. See some of the main plazas and points of interest, while eating street food, trying fruits/juices, stopping for drinks and photos, etc. Let's play it by ear. This can go as long as want.
-
Night time - Everyone is welcome to do as they wish. Check out some of the restaurants, and bars I recommend. Let me know if you would like me to make any reservations, etc.
December 29
-
Day time - Everyone is welcome to do as they wish. Relax by the pool, go shopping, sleep all day, or check out some of these activities and let me know if you would like to know more:
-
Market tour - Get a guided tour of the local "Mercado". Bazurto is a local market, raw, large, and full of local folklore and flavor. Definitely an experience. This activity would be in the morning.
-
Mud Volcano - Like 45 min from the city there is a "mud volcano", where you can bath. It is suppose to be good for your skin. It is not for everyone, but also an unique and fun experience. This can be morning, or early afternoon.
-
History Bike Tour - Professional guided biking tour around the city. Learn about the fascinating story of the city while enjoying the ride. This can be in the morning or mid afternoon.
-
Coffee Roasting Workshop and tasting - Learn about coffee, roast your own, and taste some of the best. This is near the house.
-
Anything else in mind? Let me know. I will make it happen.
-
Check out our Cartagena guide for additional information
-
-
Night Time - I am going to make a dinner reservation for the entire group. I am looking at options. I am thinking around 9PM. Then play the night by ear.
December 30
-
10:00 AM - ISLAND HOPPING! I have reserved two boats (42ft) to take us around the Rosario Islands. We will stop to swim, snorkel (if we want), and check out beautiful beaches a long the way where we can relax, drink, eat, and party. We will also be able to bring drinks and snacks on the boat. I am also having ceviche made for us!
-
We will have lunch at one of the islands. Bring cash
-
-
Night time - Everyone is welcome to do as they wish. Check out some of the restaurants, and bars I recommend. Let me know if you would like me to make any reservations, etc.
December 31
-
Day time - Everyone is welcome to do as they wish. Relax by the pool, go shopping, sleep all day, or check out some of these activities and let me know if you would like to know more
-
New Years Eve
-
I am coordinating to have a nice dinner at the house, have the maid make something delicious for us, have drinks, etc. I will let you all know cost when it's all finalized. It would not be too much. Let me know if you prefer to have dinner somewhere else, happy to make reservations for those who want to go out for dinner.
-
After dinner, I recommend heading out to celebrate in the streets with locals, and watch fireworks. The streets become a massive party. Some streets will have life music and DJ's spinning. We can drink in the streets, carry our own bottles, etc. It's a lot of fun.
-
There are also private parties happening that night. Those are usually with open bar, some include dinner, and they also have Dj's or live bands. Last New Years they all seemed to cost around $250 per person. I don't think I would do that myself, but let me know if someone does, I will be happy to help with that.

-
If those staying are interested, I would like to maybe make a reservation for group drinks or dinner this night. Let me know.
